Welcome! Thank you so much for being here to celebrate this special day with us.

Sometimes God begins a beautiful story quietly. Rarely giving a warning before it starts. No perfect timing. Just a simple introduction, a moment of hesitation, a first message, and two people who had no idea how much their lives were about to change!

We met five years ago through a mutual friend, and after rigorous review and experiential labwork, it’s been laughter, discovery, and an adventure that just keeps getting better!

No carefully planned introduction. And certainly no love at first sight, because we hadn’t even seen each other yet. 😄

Our story began with a phone call I received from an elderly mutual friend from church. She told me about a young woman she described simply as “beautiful and very God-fearing.” There was, however, one small condition. Phil wasn’t interested in dating yet, just friendship.

Fair enough, what could possibly happen?

I forgot to call Phil.😂 I had recently been involved in a vehicle accident and was still recovering when I received Phil’s number. I saved it, and then… one day passed. Then another. Then another. Almost two weeks went by. Eventually, the mutual friend called again. She had already told Phil that I’ll be calling. Phil was expecting to hear from me. Surely that reminder worked!

I was in so much pain and still didn’t call. 😄

I promise the love story eventually started…

“Hello Ewurabena, … this is Eric here. I got your number from Sis Gertrude; I hope you're very fine; did you get any little thing that made you feel happier today?”

Technically, it was just a text. But after two weeks of not calling her, I finally made my move.

Did we finally meet? Not even close 😄

Before we ever met face to face, I invited Phil to join our Sabbath afternoon service on Zoom, and she did. Phil saw me speaking during the service, and I saw her on screen. For the first time, the voices had faces. And after that Sabbath, the phone conversations became longer, the friendship grew deeper, and something neither of us had planned quietly began to change.

Remember: this was still supposed to be “just friendship.” 😉

Some things are better written from the heart. I wrote this one for you. ❤️

I travelled to Toronto the week of my birthday, and for the first time, the person who had lived behind a phone screen and a familiar voice was suddenly standing right there. Phil had arranged an Airbnb where we could finally spend real time together, and what followed was a week of conversations, laughter, birthday celebrations, and the wonderfully strange experience of finally being beside someone we already knew so well.

We were strangers earlier, and now, we were beginning to discover what our story could become.

🌸 Butchart Gardens — Victoria

Flowers, laughter & a day to remember. We escaped into the beauty of Butchart Gardens and enjoyed a day surrounded by breathtaking flowers and peaceful scenery. Sometimes, you don’t need a big plan—just good company and a beautiful place to make a memory.

✈️ Seaplane to Victoria → ⛴️ Ferry Back to Vancouver

Because apparently, one mode of transportation wasn’t enough! 😂 We flew over the water to Victoria by seaplane and returned to Vancouver by ferry. Two completely different views, one unforgettable adventure. We love trying new things, and this trip gave us a little bit of everything—excitement, beautiful scenery, and quality time together.

FlyOver canada

Taking our relationship to new heights! We decided to experience Canada from a whole new perspective—and FlyOver Canada definitely delivered. It was fun, exciting, and another reminder that some of the best memories come from simply saying, “Why not? Let’s try it!”

🌊 Niagara Falls

When the view is breathtaking… literally! Our visit to Niagara Falls gave us the chance to stand in awe of one of Canada’s most spectacular sights. We went to explore but came away with another beautiful memory—and, of course, plenty of pictures! We may have gotten a little soaked by the mist, but the smiles were absolutely worth it. Standing there together made us realize just how incredible this journey of ours truly is. It’s a memory we will hold onto as we get ready for our biggest adventure yet.

🎓 UBC Graduation — Vancouver

A milestone worth celebrating together. This one was a little more special. Graduation was a moment of accomplishment, gratitude, and celebration. Having each other there made the milestone even more meaningful. It was a beautiful reminder that life’s achievements are sweeter when shared with someone who genuinely wants to see you win. Thank you for being my biggest cheerleader and my constant support through every late-night experiment and long writing sessions.

🏔️ Sea to Sky Gondola — Squamish

Mountains, magnificent views & us at the top of the world! We headed to Squamish for the Sea to Sky Gondola and were rewarded with incredible mountain views. We love exploring new places, but moments like this remind us that the destination is only half the fun–the real joy is in the journey and the person beside you. Standing high above the clouds together felt like a preview of all the peaks we hope to conquer in life. British Columbia truly has a way of stealing your breath away!

Our journey hasn’t been perfect, but it has been ours. And through every season, God has continued to teach us about patience, grace, commitment, and what it means to choose one another!

Then somewhere along the journey, I realized there was one more place I wanted this story to go… FOREVER!

When we look back, we don’t simply see the places we’ve visited or the photographs we’ve collected. We see two strangers who became friends. Two friends separated by thousands of kilometres who kept choosing to know each other. We see phone calls that lasted longer than planned, flights between Vancouver and Toronto, prayers, laughter, difficult seasons, celebrations, adventures, milestones and a love that continued to grow through all of it. And now, surrounded by the people who have loved, prayed for and supported us along the way, we are preparing to begin the chapter we’ve been walking toward all this time.
